October 2005: Having visited again, and seen another range of sites, we placed a bid on a terraced house, even though it did not fit all of our requirements
November 2005: We were outbid for that house, by 10,000 euro! Coincidentally, another house came on the market and we loved it. Took the estate agent's advice and placed a straight, non-negotiable bid which was accepted.
December 2005: Estate agent arranged for the legal formalities and we visited the office of the Notary to sign the deal. During the course of that meeting we met the selling family since, by Italian law, all beneficiaries must attend. They were really lovely and delighted to sell. It transpired it had been owned by an aunt who had no children. More to follow...
