The occasion - La Befana, an ancient tradition where a character gives presents to children on the Feast of the Epiphany. In modern times, as you can see, the village organises a colourful and public ceremony - the gentleman on the left with the microphone is the 'Master of Ceremonies' while La Befana waits patiently to give a present from the large box behind her.
