Costumed lady at the Quintana

Even the children of this ancient city become involved, donning the apparel of their forefathers and engaging in a cultural highlight. The costumes must cost a huge amount of money to produce and maintain (just think of the storage required!), and it must be an enormous exercise to rehearse and dress everyone involved. There is enormous passion and pride in this annual event, and the festivities also include archery and flag-waving competitions. During most of the weekends of July, there are events that precede the main festival at the first Sunday in August; the last Sunday in July is usually reserved for the Archers' competition.
