Maletesta family bridge, Ascoli Piceno,

This medieval bridge once linked the properties of the famous Italian Maletesta family in Ascoli Piceno, Le Marche. It stands above a deep ravine beside their fort, situated towards the eastern side of the city. The building was a prison up to the later twientienth-century. The bridge is known locally as the "Devil's bridge" (Ponte del Diavolo) since condemned prisoners had to cross it before sentence.
